Terms of Sale

Reserving your Smithen Farm kid: Prices quoted are for domestic (within the United States) pre-ordered kids that are picked up or shipped by 4 to 6 weeks of age. Kids that remain at the farm after that time are subject to a boarding fee and the buyer will be responsible for any additional expenses such as veterinary visits or medications. We require a $100 deposit per kid reserved. Reservations are made based on the order in which deposits are received. When reserving a kid, please be sure to include both a first and second choice with your reservation, with the first choice kidding before or close to your second choice. You will be notified when your kid is born and the balance of your kid order is due in full within 10 days of notification of birth. If the balance is not paid within 10 days and other arrangements have not been made, the kid may be offered to another buyer and the deposit, or any money paid, forfeited. If your reservation cannot be fulfilled or the kid does not meet our standard of quality, your deposit may be refunded or your reservation may roll to the next year or transfer to another available kid. Deposits on cancelled orders will not be refunded. Kids born that are not already reserved will first be offered to buyers with paid deposits whose reservations were not filled.

Nubian kids can be born any color or pattern. We will not accept reservations with color or pattern stipulations. A kid order is considered cancelled if the kid is rejected due to color/pattern and the deposit or any money paid is non-refundable.

All Smithen Farm buck kids sold will be DNA typed at no additional cost.

We reserve the right to give preference to buyers that participate in ADGA performance programs. We also reserve the right to retain an animal, even pre-ordered kids, for our herd or cancel a sale if the animal does not meet our standard of quality. Buck kids from first fresheners may be available after we have had a chance to evaluate the doe in milk. For any Smithen Farm buck kid purchased, we reserve the right to purchase up to 20 straws of semen at the cost of collection.

Bringing home your Smithen Farm kid: Our prices do not include health papers, shipping crate, or shipping costs. Buyers are responsible for all shipping costs including the shipping crate, airfare, any required health tests and interstate health certificates prior to the time of shipping. Estimated travel costs and shipping fees must be paid in full, along with the full purchase price of the kid, at least 10 days prior to the shipping date or the sale will be considered cancelled. Kids will be air shipped from the Sacramento International Airport.

Mature animals may be available on a case by case basis. Mature animals (milkers, dry does, bucks) must be paid in full and picked up within 2 weeks of agreed purchase unless prior arrangements have been agreed upon. Milkers will not be sent on transport- they must be picked up by the buyer or will be dried off prior to leaving our farm.

Professional or 3rd party ground transport companies must approved by us on a case by case basis prior to transport. All animals will be in excellent health before leaving our farm. Once an animal leaves our farm, we are not liable for any health related issues.

By reserving or purchasing an animal with us, you accept and agree to our terms of sale in their entirety.
